Still need to put a 5-10 more hours on this, but not sure when I'm gonna get the chance, so might as well post it now. Lots more work... 'Nother pic I'm working on for the piper project, lots of work still to go, tho:

i did the cover of the book i posted on my blog. yeah, i feel the same way you do. sometimes the work doesn't turn out the way you want it to due to crazy deadlines and higher ups controlling how things should look.

i think it looks pretty done to me! the only thing i might change is bleeding out the left side a bit so it doesn't run down the side of the arch.

Wow, lovely! The darker values and nifty rim lighting on the figures really help them stand out. I think a lot of us could learn from your example. :-)

I can see Ben's point about the left side of the arch, though. It's so close to vertical, and so nearly parallel to the edge of the frame, that it almost undercuts the off-kilter feel of the composition. I guess you could just rotate the whole image a couple of degrees clockwise...

But ooh, the red colors in the skylights! The bluish secondary lighting! The purple mountains' majesty! So nice!
