Hey! Just got back to the San Francisco after being over in europe for a bit. Pretty fucking awesome. Went from England, chunneled to Paris, then over to Italy. Italy was amazingly hot and humid when I was there... you really couldn't walk anywhere in the afternoon in Rome without being drenched in sweat in two seconds. Shock for someone coming from the perpetually cold-ish SF. Heh. Here's some of my sketchbook from over there:

Little Red final book

So, I finally got it all converted for the web. This is my final project/book for vis. dev. last term. We all had to take little red riding hood and tweak the story in some way and build out from there. Good class, and great teacher, Robert Kondo.

Drawing at work

These are from my small sketchbook I have at work. Between taking out food, draw a little here and there.

Back to finals. I need to get through em to get to gta. Heh.

I saw this pretty amazing short, via cartoonbrew, and it reminded me of how much I really do like animation. The skill in doing the character stuff alone is crazy. From the description:

"Mathieu Labaye's short-movie, a tribute to his father Benoît Labaye, who suffered from a multiple sclerosis at 29 years old. Benoît Labaye had been confined to a wheelchair since age 40 and died at 55 years old."

Red Riding Hood Design

So, this is what I came up with for vis. dev. for my red design. I suck a character design. It's so hard to keep in mind straight vs. curves, the reference, get the acting and movement, flat vs 3d, and then, on top of that shit, come out with something that's not generic. Bleh. You look at, like, Carter Goodrich's designs, for any of the films he's worked on, and every one of 'em looks iconic. Like a timeless kinda design. How.....!

I'm gonna try to redo her near the end the term... and get something better.
